Televising Hasan Nadal's execution will harm the US

Despite the moral repugnance and legal hurdles of the Hegseth / Trump scheme to glorify Nadal Hasan's execution, I think it's _also_ a tactical & strategic mistake:
* Anyone who was at all sympathetic to Hasan Nadal is going to be incensed and is more likely to see him as a martyr and inspiration. (Compare "The Patriot Game"'s treatment of John Connolly - wherein an IRA recruit recruits hearing of the execution of another convicted murderer in a wheelchair, and how that led to his own recruitment.)
* How are the soldiers going to look, a dozen of them lined up with rifles pointed at a single, bound, unarmed man? That's not going to look like the strength, bravery and selflessness the military wants to be associated with; if Hegseth / Trump promotes it and gives some of their typical MAGA "bad guys can't hide" rhetoric, it won't even look like even-handed, impartial justice. It's likely to look like brutal murder of someone who isn't a threat, by folks who were never in danger.
* What will Hegseth & co. do if Hasan starts praying audibly on camera? If he does, and if the soldiers shoot him anyway, it will reinforce critiques of the GOP as straying from the First Amendment's prohibition against state-sponsored religion. Expect similar critiques if there's no audio but Hasan appears to be praying, if he's gagged, or if Trump & Hegseth aren't careful with their words in how they speak about the event.

Despite all that, I rather expect the Conman in Chief to sell the rights to the video to a pay-per-view service in exchange for a cut of the proceeds... and for a lot of MAGA partisans to endorse the video because it shows a bad guy getting killed. Much how they've endorsed police brutality against peaceful protestors and brutal detentions of legal immigrants.

Their rhetoric and actions around the world have, in just two years, inverted the US's reputation for military alliances. Between Trump's broad tariffs, pulling out of trade deals, threatening to pull out of military alliances, endorsement of tyrants, internationally-condemned losing tactics in Iran & Venezuela, vilification of human rights (including refugee rights), racist dog whistles, and so on, he seems intent on describing the US as "No better enemy, no worse friend."

There is a lot to do ... but there are a lot of people who want reform, and a lot you can do
